Head of Production

Our customer is an international FMCG manufacturer with over 100 years’ history. The company is producing various plastics related goods. One of its production plants employing nearly 1000 people is located in Poland. The factory is continuously developing - several hundred new SKUs are launched every year. The company has recently introduced an investment plan which will result in the World biggest factory in its industry in terms of production capacity. Due to that plan we are looking for an experienced professional for the below position:

Head of Production

Location: Southern Greater Poland District

The general objective of the position is to increase manufacturing efficiency of largest plant of the industry worldwide by improving lean practices, upgrading staff competencies and enhancing cooperation between departments. Direct reports include production managers and maintenance manager. Overall staff nearly 1000.

A) Production – overall responsibility of several production departments covering tens of complex production lines and various additional operations with capacity to produce several thousand SKUs and millions of items per a year. Detailed duties:

  • manage people with special focus on development of competencies of machine operators (adjustment of skills matrices, setting and executing training programs, carrying out appraisal and career path development)
  • drive various actions and projects (also in cooperation with other departments) aimed to increase production efficiency, capacity, flexibility and stability of the processes while keeping costs under control
  • analyze KPIs (notably OEE, availability, costs, scrap, etc.) and develop analytical overview of production in cooperation with the business analyst
  • introduce various lean practices and developing continues improvement culture
  • supervise installations of new production lines and other investments in manufacturing area

B) Maintenance – enhancing cooperation with the production department in order to increase the general efficiency of the manufacturing process. Detailed duties:

  • develop preventive maintenance with special focus on autonomous maintenance practices
  • improve and adjust analyses of machinery – a lot a data is currently available
  • introduce or develop various TPM standards, including SMED, 5S, etc.
  • establish and maintain accurate problem solving techniques / root causes analyses
  • Experience on a similar position in a high quality standard company
  • Ability to connect technology, equipment, raw materials, processes and people
  • Proven experience and achievements in efficiency improvement projects
  • Excellent managerial skills (coordination of multiple projects)
  • Dynamism and proactive approach
  • Financial understandings, calculations, costs analysis
  • English language command, min. upper intermediate / B2
  • Technical University Degree
